Mobile Forms Android 7 Release Notes
Overview
This document details the 7.0 release of our Mobile Forms application for Android Devices. The version number shown in the app is 7.1.2.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix the Crashes when Sending Forms or Diagnostics on Old Android Platforms in the Android 7.1.1 App [SB-2963]
Fixed an issue when sending Forms on older Devices (Android Nougat and older) due to an updated library used with the new Drawing Tools available in the Android App. Deployed to the Play Store as version 7.1.2 on 10/28/2022.

Bug Fixes
- Update the Add an E-Mail Address Option to Use the New Standard Top-Level Domain Standard in the Android App [SB-2949]
Updated the Add an E-Mail Address option on the Optional Recipients Screen to use the new top-level domain standard to allow more than 3 characters (max of 63 characters) in the Android App.

Product Enhancements
- Confirm and Update the Purging Mechanisms in the Android App [SB-2801]
Confirmed the processes for purging in the Android App were working correctly for Sent Forms, Form Templates, and Form Data Files however purging was not working for Work Orders if a Form was re-assigned to a different User than logged into the Device so that was updated to properly remove those orphan files. Additionally, new logs were added and temp folder cleanup was added for all of the Diagnostics generated by the Android App.
- Research Using Personal and Work Profiles in the Android App [SB-2939]
Research complete. Confirmed it will be possible to support Work Profiles in a future version of the Android App. Case SB-2945 was created to implement the changes to support Work Profiles.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix Issues with the Drawing Tool from the Latest Feedback in the Android App [SB-2924]
Fixed an issue with not being able to Enable Inking on Camera Regions when the new Camera Single Tap Long Press Menu config is enabled, fixed an issue with de-selecting Shapes when tapping on empty areas of the Drawing Canvas, and double tapping while the Select Tool is used will no longer cause crashes in the Android App.

- Prepare a Test Company and Instructions and Complete the App Access Task for the Android App in the Google Play Store [SB-2337]
Setup a dedicated Google Play Store Company for testing purposes in the Production Cloud and completed the App Access Task in the Google Play Store console for the Android App.
- Update the Drawing Tools with the Latest Feedback based on Version 7.0.64 for the Android App [SB-2894]
Updated the new Drawing functionality for Camera Regions in the Android App with the following changes: - Changed the Select Shape... Tool to not be enabled by default when creating or editing a Drawing
- Changed the label on the Fill and Stroke Color Selector screen to "Set to Transparent" and the Color selection UI is disabled when set to Transparent
- Updated saving Drawings to not include any selected Shapes at the time the Save was made
- Remove the Legacy Background Location Services from the Android App [SB-2909]
Removed the legacy Background Location Services in the Android App since the server side service has long since been removed.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix REST API Calls Returning Empty Responses with Successful Codes in the Android App [SB-2892]
Fixed an issue with a third party library that handles REST Web Service call requests made while filling out Forms in the Android App.

- Update the Drawing Tools with UI and Functionality Improvements in the Android App [SB-2886]
Updated the new Drawing functionality for Camera Regions in the Android App with the following changes: - Fixed an issue with loading the Form Background into the Drawing screen
- Updated the long press menu option to be "Add to Drawing" if a Drawing is already present in a Camera Region
- Changed the "View" Button label to "Save"
- Updated the Tools at the top to look more like Buttons and indicate when one of the Tools is enabled
- Added confirmation pop-up windows to the Save and Delete actions
- Removed some unneeded options for the Select Button and the Stroke Button
- Added a default "Select Shape..." option to the Shapes Tool
- Added labels below the Undo, Redo, Stroke, Fill, Eraser, Size, and Delete Buttons

- Updated the Stroke Button to have an outline to be more visible

Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix Crash Occurring when Rotating Orientation on the Any Main Menu Screen Except Blank Forms in the New Android App UI [SB-2820]
Fixed an issue with the Main Menu UI resetting the view to the Blank Forms section if you rotate the screen when in the Drafts, My Work, Sent Forms, or Settings sections in the new UI of the Android App.

- Add New Drawing Tools to Camera Regions in the Android App [SB-2790]
Added the ability to add Drawings to Camera Regions in the Android App which includes the following functionality: - Added a Create a Drawing to the Camera Region Type and is accessible through the long press menu
- Added a new App config to make the long press menu for Camera Regions available with a single tap
- Added the ability to make the following Basic Shapes: Pen, Line, Arc, Rectangle, Square, Oval, Circle, Triangle, Star, Arrow, and Text
- Added Custom Shapes for a Grid and a Double Arrow
- Added the ability to select Shapes (Rect, Oval, Wand) to move, scale, and rotate the Shape after the Shape is created
- Added the ability to Undo / Redo actions in the Drawing Canvas
- Added the ability to set the Stroke Color, the Fill Color, and the Stroke Size for Shapes
- Added an Eraser to partially delete Shapes using the Stroke Size
- Added a Delete action to clear the Drawing Canvas
- Updated the Drawing Canvas to load in the Form Background
Additional Notes:
- Camera Regions can contain any combination of a Drawing, Image, and Inking if done in the correct order. Taking a new Photo will replace an existing Drawing so taking a Photo or loading an Image first is advised if you want to draw on the Photo or Image.
- Drawings are flattened into a single image when the Drawing is saved.
- Drawings in Camera Regions are currently only available in the Android and iOS Apps so Shared Forms, Web App, and Workflow do not support Drawings.

Updated the Target API Level to 31 and left the Minimum API Level at 21 to be in compliance with the Google Play Store policy scheduled to be required in August 2022.
- Add the Ability to Swipe to Delete Saved Drafts in the New UI of the Android App [SB-2728]
Updated the Saved Drafts section to allow swiping to the left to display a Delete option in the Android App to match the iOS App behavior.
- Add a Show/Hide Password Option to the Activation and Login Screens in the Android App [SB-2749]
Added a Show/Hide option to the Password field on the Activation screen and the Login screen in the Android App.
- Remove the Focus on the Search Filter after the Keyboard is Minimized in the Main Menu in the New Android App UI [SB-2755]
Updated the Search Filter in the Main Menu sections to no longer stay focused after the keyboard gets minimized in the New Android App UI.
- Add a Delete Button to the Search Filter in the Main Menu in the New Android App UI [SB-2759]
Added a Delete button to the Search Filter in all of the Main Menu sections of the New Android App UI.
- Update the Android App to Display the Proper Error Message when Demo Accounts Are Restricted on a Company [SB-2773]
Updated the Android App to display the appropriate error message when the Prevent Demo Account Creation for My Users Setting is enabled and the User attempts to use the Create New Account option instead of the Log in with an Existing Account option.
- Complete the Data Safety Task for the Android App in the Google Play Store [SB-2793]
Completed the Data Safety Task in the Google Play Store console for the Android App
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix the Android App Not Populating Images in Camera Regions on Hidden Pages when Using Quick Copy [SB-1988]
Fixed an issue with Quick Copy not populating Camera Regions with Photos if the Pages were initially hidden when the Form Draft was started in the Android App.

Updated the Activation process when a User is at their Activation Limit in the Android App to automatically replace the Device if there is only a single activated Device for the User.
- Update the Android App to Display an Error Message when Workflow Parent Script Calls Are Made [SB-2394]
Updated the Android App to display an appropriate error message when attempting to use the Field2Base.getWorkflowParent() Script call since it is unavailable in the Mobile Forms Apps.
- Add the Ability to Close the Search Box on the Main Menu by Tapping Away in the New UI of the Android App [SB-2721]
Updated the Search field to close the keyboard if the User taps away from the field in the new Main Menu UI of the Android App.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix Missing Results when Calling Search Sent Forms in the Android App [SB-2685]
Fixed an issue with returning the Resource ID, the RFI Timestamp, and the Form Friendly Name when making Search Sent Form Script calls in the Android App.

- Add the Ability to Get the REF# for a Sent Form in the Android App [SB-1694]
Updated the Android App to support new Script Field2Base.getReferenceNumber() and Field2Base.hasReferenceNumber() calls to capture the REF# assigned to a Sent Form after it's been processed by the server. The Mobile Forms App can only retrieve the REF# using a Workflow Work Order.
- Update the Mobile Forms Logo in the New UI of the Android App [SB-2170]
- Updated the Logo to a new Mobile Forms version in the new UI of the Android App.
- Allow Adding E-Mail Addresses with Longer Top Level Domain Names in the Android App [SB-2282]
Updated the Add E-Mail Address option on the Optional Recipients screen to allow longer top-level domains (i.e. .site, .info, etc.) in the Android App.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix the New Android App UI Crashing when Using the Sort Option in the Main Menu [SB-2255]
Fixed issues with the App crashing when using the Sort option in the Saved Drafts, the My Work section, and the Sent Forms section in the New UI of the Android App.
- Update the Form Viewer to Snap Back to Fit the Form Height when Zooming Out in the Beta Android App [SB-2208]
Updated the Form Viewer to not zoom out beyond the Form's Page dimensions in the New UI of the Android App.
- Investigate and Fix Crashes when Navigating to Sent Forms after a Form Template is Deleted in the Beta Android App [SB-2201]
Fixed an issue with viewing Sent Forms after the associated Form Template was deleted from the system in the New UI of the Android App.

Updated the Sent Forms section in the Android App with a new Quick Copy button for each Sent Form in the list.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix Accessing My Work when the Form Template for a Work Order is No Longer Available in the Android App [SB-1948]
Fixed an issue with displaying the proper error message when opening Work Orders after the Form Template associated with the Work Order has been deleted from the Company in the Android App.

Updated the Android App so that Sync button to now initiate a sync request. Additionally, issues were fixed with the Section Visibility Configs in both the Phone and Tablet version and with Form Draft Sync'ing.
- Update the UI to Better Handle when Removing Custom App Profiles in the Android App [SB-1770]
Updated the Android App to better handle when a Custom Home Screen or Kiosk Profile has been removed from a Device.

Product Enhancements
- Implement Clean Up Items Found in the New Android App UI [SB-1792]
Updated the new Android App UI with items that were found. On the Phone version, interacting with the Folder / Search / Sort options no longer causes two tap noises to occur. On the Phone and Tablet versions, the Badge counts for each section no longer overlap the section icons, Work Orders without Addresses no longer show the Directions icon, the About Mobile Forms and Address Book sections are updated with the new UI, and a Most Recently Used option has been added to the Sort feature in the Blank Forms section.
- Implement the New Document Scan Region Type in the Android App [SB-1785]
Updated the Android App to support the new Document Scan Region Type when filling out Forms. This does require using a 7.0 eForm Template version.
- Create New Main Menu in the Android App Store Build [SB-1408]
Created a new and more modern UI for the Android App Store Build.
- Implement the Contents of each New Main Menu Section in the Android App Store Build [SB-1409]
Implemented the contents of each Main Menu section and the Settings section using the new UI in the Android App Store Build.
- Add the Ability to Launch Other Apps in the Android App [SB-1710]
Updated the Android App to allow Forms to launch other apps with custom URI schemes and allows web pages to be displayed in a Web View inside of the App rather than in the local web browser.
- Add the Ability to Launch the Android App from Other Apps [SB-1773]
Added the ability to the Mobile Forms Apps to be launched using link and allow the following actions: activating with Login credentials, activating with an Activation ID, open a blank Form, and open a Work Order. The custom URI scheme for launching the App uses "f2b://" as the prefix.
- Implement the New Optional Recipients Section in the Android App Store Build [SB-1410]
Implemented the optional Recipients section using the new UI in the Android App Store Build.
- Add EULA UI to the Android App [SB-1562]
Updated the Android App to support the new EULA system and check for a new EULA whenever the User navigates to the Main Menu. If there is a new EULA, the User must accept it to continue using the Android App.
- Research New Document Scan Region Type for Use in the Mobile Forms Apps [SB-899]
Research completed. The new Document Scan Region Type will replace the deprecated Scan Region Type, and based on our review, the decision was made to use the AndroidDocumentScanner library for the Android App and the WeScan library for the iOS App. SB-1784 and SB-1785 were created for the App implementations. SB-1786 was created for Forms Designer and SB-1787 was created for the Web Suite.
- Update the Embedded Camera to Display the Switcher when the Default Camera Config is Enabled [SB-1702]
Updated the Android App to allow switching between Front and Rear cameras when a Default Camera config is set.
- Update the Android App to Not Refresh the UI when Downloading Resources when Using a Custom Home Screen [SB-1655]
Updated the Android App to not reload the Home Screen when a App Custom Home Screen Profile is applied after each resource (i.e. Form Templates, Work Orders, etc.) downloads.
- Update the Load Draft Error Message Text in the Android App when a Form Template Has Not Been Downloaded [SB-1654]
Updated the error message shown when trying to open a Form Template that has not finished downloading when an App Custom Home Screen Profile is applied in the Android App.
- Update the Barcode Region Capture to Configure which Camera to Always Use in the Android App [SB-1579]
Updated the Android App with a new configuration option that locks which Camera (Front or Back) to use when scanning Bar Codes in Barcode Regions. The new config name is BarcodeCameraFacing.
- Update the Device Details Displayed when Replacing Existing Devices in the Android Play Store Build [SB-1514]
Update the Android App to now include the Device Type (i.e. Make and Model) field when listing the available Devices the User can remove when using the Replace Existing Devices option during the Activation process.
- Update the Change Password Screen with Improved UI in the Android App [SB-1532]
Updated the Android App to auto-fill the expired Password in the Old Password field and to display the Password requirements on the Change Password Screen when a User's Password expires.
- Add the Ability to Get Location Details using Scripting in the Android App [SB-1618]
Updated the Android App to support the new getLocationNames() and getLocationDetails() Script calls for Location Details and Location Requirements added to the system.
- Add the Ability to Get Personnel Details using Scripting in the Android App [SB-1627]
Updated the Android App to support the new getUser() Script call that includes Personnel Details as well as the Covoperate.getUserEnrolled() Script call.
- Embed the Ability to Capture Photos when using Camera Regions in the Android App [SB-1577]
Embedded a Camera App into the Android App and added a configuration option that will make Camera Regions use the Front or Rear facing camera by default. The new config name is PhotoCameraFacing with the options of Front or Back.
- Update the Barcode Region Capture to No Longer Auto-Rotate to Landscape Mode in the Android App [SB-1578]
The Android App no longer auto-rotates to Landscape orientation when scanning a bar code into a Barcode Region.
- Add the Ability to Mirror Camera Regions in the Android App [SB-1461]
Updated the Android App to support the new Mirror Image Region Type.
- Research Improving the Barcode Scanner and Camera Experiences in Android [SB-1553]
Completed research for requested changes to bar code scanning for Barcode Regions and photo taking in Camera Regions for the Android App.
- Disallow Form Draft Saving in the Kiosk Mode in the Android App [SB-1519]
Updated the Android App to disable saving Form Draft and auto-deletes any Drafts that may get saved when Kiosk Mode is enabled.
- Add the Ability to Disable the Delete Draft and Send Form Menu Options in Kiosk Mode in the Android App [SB-1520]
Updated the Android App to disable the default app header and the menu options when Kiosk Mode is enabled.
- Add the Ability to Disable the Send Confirmation Prompt in Kiosk Mode in the Android App [SB-1521]
Updated the Android App to disable the Send Form confirmation prompt when Kiosk Mode is enabled.
- Add New Form Inactivity Tracking and Interactions to the Form Viewer in Kiosk Mode in the Android App [SB-1526]
Updated the Android App with an Inactivity Tracking mechanism that will return the User to the Home Screen or a blank Form Draft after a set period of time when Kiosk Mode is enabled. Inactivity Tracking in Kiosk Profiles allows you to set how long it takes before the screen is considered idle, and if the Form was in the process of being filled out, it allows you to set how long it takes before the session is reset and the Draft is deleted.
- Create New Form Submission Confirmation Prompt after Sending Forms in Kiosk Mode in the Android App [SB-1529]
Updated the Android App to show a confirmation prompt after a Form is sent successfully when Kiosk Mode is enabled. The prompt will automatically be dismissed after the configured amount of time defined in the Sent Form Confirmation Settings in the associated Kiosk Profile.
- Add the Ability to Immediately Launch a Form on Launch in Kiosk Mode in the Android App [SB-1550]
Updated the Android App with a new Kiosk Mode option that will automatically start a blank Form Draft when the App is launched based on the Kiosk Profile. Additionally, when the Inactivity Time is reached or a Form is sent, the User is always returned to a new blank Form Draft.
- Add the Ability to Customize the Home Page Screen using HTML in the Android App [SB-1541]
Updated the Android App with the ability to customize the App Home Screen with a HTML page. Additional functionality was added to access each of the four Main Menu sections (Blank Forms, Saved Drafts, My Work, and Sent Forms) and the Settings section beyond what was added for usage with Kiosk Mode HTML pages.
- Add the Ability to Access GPS Coordinates using Scripting in the Android App [SB-1465]
Added support in the Android App for the new getCoordinates Script method to getCoordinates() for GPS Regions that returns an object that contains all of the Coordinate properties that are captured which include latitude, longitude, elevation, and timestamp.
- Add the Ability to Customize Button Display Options in the Android App [SB-1463]
Updated Forms Designer to allow customization for the display of Buttons which includes the following options: Opacity for the Button Visibility, Button Fill Color, Button Border Color, Button Border Width, and Button Border Radius.
- Create New Kiosk Mode HTML Home Page Screen in the Android App [SB-1516]
Added new Configs that enables Kiosk Mode and sets the custom HTML Home Page for the Kiosk Mode's Main Menu in the Android App.
- Add New Screensaver Mode to Prevent the Screen from Going to Sleep on the Kiosk Mode Home Page in Android [SB-1518]
Updated the Android App to keep the Device's Screen active while the App is running in the foreground when Kiosk Mode is enabled.
Bug Fixes
- Investigate and Fix Issues with the Sent Form Item List Layout in the New Android App UI [SB-1978]
Fixed an issue with the text and icons in the layout for the list of Sent Forms in the new Android App UI.
- Investigate and Fix Issues with Printing due to Image Color Profiles in the 6.9 Android App [SB-1636]
Fixed an issue in the Android App that prevented JPG images with embedded color profiles captured in Camera Regions from being printed or saved to PDF.
- Fix Issues with the HTML Encoding when Loading the Custom App Home Screen in the Android App [SB-1606]
Updated the Android App to now use base64 encoded HTML for the Custom App Home Screen or Kiosk Mode Home Screen when loading the HTML page.
- Update the Android App to No Longer Try to Load the Hardware ID in Android OS 10 and Newer [SB-1607]
Due to security changes added starting in Android OS 10, the Android App no longer tries to get the Device Hardware ID (MEID / Serial) and load it into the Enterprise Build's Activation ID field on the Activation Screen.
- Investigate and Fix the Android App to Properly Hide Button Text when the Opacity is Set to Zero [SB-1513]
Fixed an issue in the Android App that still display the Button Text even when the Opacity setting is set to zero.
COVOPERATE Specific Features
- Update the Notification Messages in the COVOPERATE Android App [SB-1503]
Updated the text of the messages that appears in the Device's Notification bar for the COVOPERATE Android App.
- Replace the Settings Option on the Main Menu with the About COVOPERATE Section in the COVOPERATE Android App [SB-1545]
Replaced the Settings option on the Main Menu with an About COVOPERATE option in the COVOPERATE Android App.
- Hide the Menu Options Shown in the Inbox Section of the COVOPERATE Android App [SB-1587]
The COVOPERATE Android App no longer shows menu options in the Inbox section.
- Update the Text for the COVOPERATE Boarding Pass API Call in the Android App [SB-1499]
Updated the text of the COVOPERATE Boarding Pass Search Message used in the Android App.
- Add the Ability to Determine if the Request Limit is Reached for a Location in the Android App [SB-1700]
Implement Covoperate.checkLocationRequestCount Script call for use in the Android App.
- Add the Ability to Determine if the Capacity Limit is Reached for a Location in the Android App [SB-1684]
