How to Use the Drawing Tool

Overview

(available in Mobile Forms 7.0 and higher)

You can use the Create Drawing option to add inking, shapes and annotations to Camera Regions. This feature varies between Android and iOS devices so steps for each platform are available in this article.


Creating a Drawing (Android)

1. Long press on the Camera Region.

Note:  If you have the "Enable Camera Region Long Press Menu Single Tap" configuration enabled, you will only need to single tap in the Camera Region to get the list of options. Refer to the article on Custom Configurations for details.

2. Tap Create Drawing.


3. Tap on Select Shape to choose from the available options (pen, lines, shapes, text) to include in your drawing.


4. Use the additional tools to modify your drawing as needed.
A. Select – Tap to select a part of the drawing to move, rotate or re-size.

B. Undo – Tap to undo the previous action(s).

C. Redo – Tap to redo the previous action(s).

D. Stroke – Tap to change the color of your shapes. You can also set the shape to transparent which disables color selection.

E. Fill – Tap to select a color to fill in your shapes. You can also set the shape to transparent which disables color selection.

F. Eraser – Tap to erase part of your drawing.

G. Size – Tap to change the thickness of your pen, eraser or shape outline (from 0 to 20).

H. Delete – Tap to delete your entire drawing and start over with a blank canvas. 

5. Tap Save to save your drawing and return to your Form. You will get a message to confirm that your drawing is finished. Once saved, drawings can no longer be edited.



Creating a Drawing (iOS)

1. Long press on the Camera Region.

Note:  If you have the "Enable Camera Region Long Press Menu Single Tap" configuration enabled, you will only need to single tap in the Camera Region to get the list of options. Refer to the article on Custom Configurations for details.

2. Tap Create Drawing.



3. The pen is selected by default but you can tap on Pen to choose from the other available options (pen, lines, text, shapes) to include in your drawing. The ability to erase or select part of your drawing are also included under the Pen options.



4. Use the additional tools to modify your drawing as needed.

A.  Tap to select a shape and delete it from the drawing.
B.  Tap to undo the previous action(s).
C.  Tap to redo the previous action(s).
D.  Tap to change the color of your shapes. You can also set the shape to transparent which disables color selection.
E.  Tap to select a color to fill in your shapes. You can also set the shape to transparent which disables color selection.
F.  Tap to change the thickness of your pen, eraser or shape outline  (from 5, 10 or 20; default is 5).
G. Tap to delete your entire drawing and start over with a blank canvas.
5. Tap Finish to save your drawing and return to your Form. You can also tap on Cancel to return to your Form without saving your drawing.
